Besiktas chief opens up on signing Everton striker Cenk Tosun

Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi has openly admitted that the Turkish giants are keen to sign Cenk Tosun from Everton in the summer.

Tosun is heading towards the exit door at Goodison Park, and his future remains unclear.

He has been frequently linked with a move to Turkey, but Besiktas president has admitted that the club are struggling to match Tosun’s wage demands.

“Cenk Tosun is like our son, but there is a serious difference between us in terms of wages”, Cebi said, as quoted Turkish outlet Fotomac.

“Love is different, reality is different. Do I want to [bring him back?]. Yes, for Besiktas.”

Get it done

Tosun is out of contract at Goodison Park and he is one of the players who has got no future at the club.

He joined the Toffees with great promise, but he failed to live up to the expectations at Merseyside.

It has been a frustrating last few years for him, and he has struggled to get into any manager’s first-team plans.

The Turkish talisman is set to be available on a free transfer, and it remains to be seen where he lands up next season.

Everton

Besiktas could be an ideal move for him, as he aims to reignite life into his stalled career.

At Everton, he has become a fringe player. But he has got loads of quality, and a move to Turkey will do a world of good for him.

He has already spent a significant chunk of his career so far at Besiktas, and he is like their “own son”.
