Everton interested in Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of Dortmund star

Everton are one of over 30 teams currently showing interest in signing Jude Bellingham’s young brother Jobe from Birmingham, TEAMtalk reports.

The 16-year-old is yet to sign professional terms, but has a long list of clubs after him after his illustrious sibling more than proved himself worth the hype as a highly-touted teenager.

His parents have made clear that any moves for the younger brother will have no bearing on the older one, with the Toffees part of a long list of sides to watch him for his current side this year.

While Jude still won’t turn 19 until next month, he became the world’s most expensive 17-year-old when he left St Andrews for Dortmund in 2020 for a reported £25million (Sky Sports).

And the same interest is now being generated for Jobe, who according to TEAMtalk have “all the Premier League’s big hitters” after him, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal.

The Toffees are joined by Leicester, Wolves, Fulham, West Ham and Newcastle as clubs outside the top six who are also interested.

And continental clubs include his brother’s current side plus Juventus, Inter, Roma, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Monaco, Lyon and Porto.

Great and the good

The Bellingham family will be well used to teams across Europe clamouring for their services by now.

With the massive rise that Jude has already shown it is no surprise that clubs are queuing up hoping to be the beneficiaries of a similar situation with Jobe.

Clearly if the only consideration for his future was to move to the biggest possible destination then Frank Lampard’s team would not currently be the choice.

But Jude made a smart choice in moving to a club with a reputation for honing young talent so the choice would surely be more considered.

Based on the success that his older brother has had in the Bundesliga it would seem likely that Dortmund might have what amounts to a first refusal.

The young midfielder has made three first-team appearances for Birmingham this season, and the presence of one of England’s finest midfielders in recent memory as manager at Goodison might be of interest to the teenager.

One thing Toffees fans will not want to see is yet another talent arriving on the other side of the city, with The Mirror reporting recently that Liverpool were the early front-runners.

There seems only an outside chance that the club’s interest is successful at this stage, and Premier League survival at the very least would be a must to keep them in the running.
