Frank Lampard suggests decisions going against Everton are ‘affecting’ his side

Frank Lampard believes poor decisions from officials have been received in a bad way by his Everton side.

On Sunday [15 May], Everton suffered a damaging 3-2 defeat to Brentford with Jarrad Branthwaite and Salomón Rondón both shown red cards.

Lampard believes his side’s reaction to adversity is not the type he wants to see.

Talking in his programme notes ahead of the Crystal Palace clash at Goodison Park, Lampard said: “I try to be as straight as I can but to not offend people.

“But I have felt, in my short time here, we’ve had decisions not go our way that have been really clear and they have affected us.

“I do not want us to be seen as a team that is in any way a soft touch.”

Lampard added: “I want Everton to be a club that stands up for itself.

“If anyone has to do that, it is me.”

Palace pressure

Time for Everton to put their relegation fears to rest.

Failure to beat Palace will see Everton head to the Emirates on the final day looking nervously over their shoulders and bang out of form.

Everton need to put in a performance that matches the support they have received from their fan base in recent weeks.

Lampard has reconnected the Goodison faithful with the players on the pitch and they deserve immense credit for dragging their side out of trouble.

However, it would be a travesty if the Toffees failed to get over the line after pulling themselves out of trouble from a dire position.

Everton are facing an in-form Crystal Palace side who’ve had a top season under Patrick Viera and are always a threat on the counterattack.

Yet, a home game at Goodison is exactly what Lampard would’ve wanted at this stage in the season.

It’s a must win and the Toffees should win.
