Kevin Campbell predicts 'out of form' Everton man Allan has role vs Crystal Palace after mockery

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell admits that Everton midfielder Allan is out of form in recent weeks but has tipped him for a telling contribution against Crystal Palace.

The Toffees face the Eagles at Goodison Park Thursday night (19 May) in one of their final two games of the Premier League season, and a positive result could all but secure their top flight survival.

Since the Brazilian was derided for completing a single pass from a kick off in the Merseyside derby (Mirror), he has played less than half an hour of football for Frank Lampard across four games, but with injuries and suspensions mounting Campbell thinks he is in line to feature.

Speaking to Goodison News ahead of the game the ex-Toffees captain said: “Listen, he’s had good moments, but he’s kind of out of form at the moment.

“We’ve seen him play a bit earlier on in the season and he was doing really well.

“But you know, sometimes that happens. He’s not having a great time of it.

“But maybe there’s an opportunity maybe for Allan to come in and do a job on Thursday.

“Because Crystal Palace are a decent side but they’re not unbeatable, that’s for sure.

“And they [Everton] are going to need someone dogged in midfield.

“And I think that’s Allan for you.”

Win against Palace and they are finally safe because Leeds could not catch them in the final round of fixtures.

A draw may be enough though depending on Burnley’s result at Aston Villa, so a battling display in the midfield from Allan could be just what the team needs.

Prior to falling out of favour in recent weeks the 31-year-old had largely been a key performer this season, and if he can put in a performance at a vital time he will surely be firmly back in the manager’s good books.
