Alan Stubbs reacts to ‘incredible’ scenes as Everton avoid relegation

Alan Stubbs has shared his instant reaction to Everton securing their Premier League safety after beating Crystal Palace.

It didn’t look to be the Blues’ night at half-time as they trailed 2-0 but goals from Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw them complete an excellent 3-2 comeback.

Fans burst onto the pitch to celebrate the Toffees’ escape from the drop much to Stubbs’ amazement.

He said on Twitter: “You had to be there to believe and see it but what a night Everton.

“This football club just doesn’t know when it’s beat, never seen anything like it in all my life!

“Fans are incredible and they deserve this, enjoy your night blue boys,” he added “UTFT”.

Finally.

At long last Everton fans can breathe a massive sigh of relief.

After the Brentford disaster as well as going 2-0 down last night meaning the Toffees would have to head to Arsenal and get a result – it really didn’t look like the Merseysiders would pull it off.

Massive doubt started to creep in when it should have been a routine win but the Blues like to do it the hard way.

Frank Lampard can go to the Emirates and do whatever he wants now – he can even get his boots on if he fancies a game.

These scenes were incredible at Goodison Park as the fans showed their elation.

This is as close as the Toffees have ever come to relegation and hopefully, it is as close as they will ever come.

Lampard needs to build on this for next season. The expectation will be high from the fans but they need to understand these things take time and they need to treat the process with patience.
