Don Hutchison reacts to Everton win v Crystal Palace
Everton secured their Premier League status with an incredible fightback against Crystal Palace on Thursday night (19 May) at Goodison Park.
The visitors scored twice in the first half through Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew, but the Toffees roared to victory with goals coming from Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Don Hutchison took to Twitter to express his reaction after the game, and he is left stunned by the manner of the comeback from Frank Lampard’s side.
Hutchison wrote: “My goodness me. It was an absolute wreck. Everton (were) 2-0 (down) at halftime and come back and secure three (goals) at the Gwladys Street end. What a script.”
Massive win
Breath. Everton.
There will be time to reflect on what had just happened this season, but for now, it’s about relief. Everyone associated with the club can breathe a sigh of relief.
After Everton lost against Brentford, all eyes were on this game, as they wanted to capitalise on the home form.
And yet they went 2-0 down. They have shown great fightback to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat.
The relegation battle will still go down to the wire, but the Toffees won’t be involved. It’s between Burnley and Leeds United.

The scenes were incredible at Goodison Park after the final whistle as fans ran on the pitch, and couldn’t hold their emotions back.
They came perilously close to getting relegated this season. The club need to rebuild in the summer, and it’s going to be a massive transfer window for them.
However, this is a stark lesson learnt. Having spent millions in the past few years on players, the club will hope they will never have to cope with another similar nerve-wracking scare even again.
