Everton boss Frank Lampard to use ‘legendary status’ to persuade Conor Gallagher to sign

Everton have Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on their radar and Frank Lampard thinks his status at Stamford Bridge could put them in good stead.

According to talkSPORT, the Toffees are confident of making the 22-year-old attacking midfielder part of their squad next season with Crystal Palace believing less and less that they can keep him on loan for another year.

His eye-catching form for Patrick Vieira’s side this season has seen Gareth Southgate reward him with his first England cap but despite being expected to play for Chelsea in pre-season he may not barge his way into Thomas Tuchel’s first team.

TalkSPORT say that “Lampard is keeping a keen eye on the situation and hopes his legendary status at Stamford Bridge will help entice Gallagher to Merseyside, should he first manage to steer Everton to Premier League safety.”

It’s something that the manager will really want to do considering Vieira labelled Gallagher as a “really special” individual earlier this season, as quoted by TEAMtalk.

If the signing is made, Gallagher would effectively become our best player as soon as he walks through the door at Finch Farm and he will transform the side as a result.

Palace have received a lot of praise this season for their free-flowing attacking football despite not being all that high in the league table but all of their good play comes through the 22-year-old in the middle of the park.

His ability to drive forward from deep and keep his composure to pick the right pass, or even shoot, is a large reason why Southgate gave him his Three Lions debut and he is almost certainly set for many more appearances for England in the future.

If any kind of deal, even a loan for the season, is possible then Lampard and Everton have to do whatever it takes to make it happen and bring him to Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, Ian Hutchison expected the Toffees to go “all guns blazing” against the Eagles last night.
