‘Unbelievable’ – Jamie O’Hara loses mind as Everton secure Premier League safety

Jamie O’Hara couldn’t hide his delight as Everton secured their Premier League safety on Thursday [May 19] night at Goodison Park.

The Toffees came back from a 2-0 deficit in the first half to win the crunch relegation clash 3-2 thanks to goals from Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Frank Lampard has had his doubters since taking the job on Merseyside but the talkSPORT pundit insists he has shown his “true colours” by guiding the Blues to safety.

O’Hara told talkSPORT: “The one team I really wanted to stay up, I’ve said it before, was Everton.

“I really like Frank Lampard – I think you have to have Everton in the league.

“The fans are amazing, I would have been gutted if they went down so I’m so happy for Frank that he has managed to dig out some results.

“I tell you what anyone that has been digging him out, saying he wasn’t good enough or didn’t know how to have a relegation fight – he has shown his true colours there because he has dug them out of a huge hole.

“Low on confidence, low on quality and he has dragged them through. Those players have put in an unbelievable second half there to win that game and to stay in the Premier League.”

Everton

Finally.

What a nightmare of a season it has been. At long last, Everton fans can relax with their Premier League status now guaranteed for next season.

The Blues are the longest standing club in English top-flight history and it would have been an absolute disaster if they had dropped down the Championship this year – especially with the amount of money that Farhad Moshiri has pumped into the club.

It really didn’t look as if it was going to happen at half-time after a shocking first-half display from the players but Lampard must have given them a serious grilling in the dressing room because they came out a completely different team.

The scenes at Goodison Park were amazing at full time as the fans rushed onto the pitch to celebrate.

Hopefully, the next time that happens the Toffees will be celebrating winning a trophy though and not surviving a relegation battle.
