Kevin Campbell pundit reacts to potential Anthony Gordon Everton exit amid rival interest
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Everton will sell a player who brings in “a lot of money” if they have to but will not let Anthony Gordon go according to Kevin Campbell.
The Telegraph reported earlier this month that Tottenham were “closely watching” Toffees trio Gordon, Richarlison and Ben Godfrey ahead of potential summer approaches.
But ex-Goodison captain Campbell was emphatic in shutting down the idea that the local hero, who has stood out through dark times this year, would be leaving the club.

“No. It’s not happening,” he told Goodison News.
“Gordon’s a really good player who’s been probably over the last few months Everton’s best player.
“I think he’s really shone. Got caught out a little bit at the weekend [against Brentford], just because of positioning and his youth and exuberence sometimes.
“But one thing he is, he’s honest, he’s willing, and he’s a grafter.
“I can’t see Everton doing that business. They don’t need to sell.
“They don’t need to sell him. If they’re going to sell they’re going to sell somebody that’s going to bring in a lot of money.”

After some of his displays this year 21-year-old Gordon could himself surely bring in a hefty fee now, but as an academy product who has broken through and shined he probably enjoys some protected status.
Speculation over the futures of attacking stars Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will continue, especially with the club seemingly under pressure to balance the books.
And while it seems certain that there will be a number of departures this summer, both Campbell and the fans will be hoping that Gordon is not involved.
In other Everton news, Campbell was so annoyed that Steven Gerrard was treated differently to Lampard by the FA he worried he would get himself in trouble as well by speaking about it.
