Everton to search for ‘value in the market’ this summer transfer window
Everton will continue to search for “value in the market” this summer transfer window as they look to overhaul the squad, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Toffees have held a strategic review of everything that has happened at Goodison Park in an attempt to find out where the 2021-22 season went wrong.
Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Everton’s chief executive, has already told staff of the results and that they might take a while to reap the benefits of change but one thing that won’t is their transfer policy.

Everton will continue to try and buy players for cheap with the hope that they will come good rather than splash the cash as they have previously done to no avail but the cash remains at Frank Lampard’s disposal should the right deal materialise.
They would prefer though that a clearer pathway from the academy to the first team is implemented rather than bringing new players in from elsewhere.
Hesitant
Last season was probably the worst we have endured as Evertonians in more than five or six decades and yet we are trying to do the same thing again in the transfer window.
Whoever at the football club thinks spending just £1.7million in the summer 12 months ago is exactly what we need to do again needs to seriously consider their position because anyone with a brain cell would realise what a mistake that would be.

Obviously, with the club’s finances hitting the headlines recently, they might have to sell before they can buy but we may well get some very big transfer fees for a couple of players at Finch Farm.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are both worth more than £50million and should they both leave, that gives Lampard £100million minimum to improve every area of the squad with players valued at around £15-20million rather than just rummaging around in the bargain bucket.
In other Everton news, talks are going to be held between the Toffees and Sporting Lisbon over Joao Virginia’s future very soon.
