Frank Lampard wants Everton to sign Conor Coady from Wolves
Everton want to sign Wolves captain and England ace Conor Coady to bolster their defensive options for next season, according to Daily Mail.
The Toffees just about escaped relegation after a horror season, and manager Frank Lampard now wants to strengthen his squad to avoid a repeat of that in the next campaign.
In a fresh report in the Daily Mail [May 25], they claim that Coady is on the shortlist of dominant centre backs wanted at Goodison Park alongside James Tarkowski and youngster Levi Colwill.

The club are also keen to sign a defensive midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder to solidify the squad, with Donny Van de Beek set to return to Manchester United after his loan deal and the futures of Dele Alli and Allan up in the air.
Coady has established himself as a regular in the England squad under Gareth Southgate for his performances with Wolves, often playing in the middle of a back three and that could be appealing to Lampard also. His performances earned him plaudits from Brendan Rodgers too, where he was labelled ‘superb’.
Experience
Coady isn’t a superstar name by any means, but he is a very reliable defender who brings leadership and ball-playing ability to the squad too.
Lampard often went with a back three in the run-in, using Seamus Coleman as a makeshift centre-back. But the arrival of Coady would mean a much more natural option there and someone who is used to playing that role week in, week out for several years.

He’s also from Merseyside, although he was an academy product of the red side, and that could tempt him to move away from Wolves to move back closer to home.
There is no fee mentioned, but it’s unlikely to be cheap considering Wolves’ financial position and the fact he is the captain and leader of that side.
Everton don’t have much to spend, but using a chunk of their budget on Coady wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world considering you’d know exactly what you’re getting from him.
