Everton do have room to splash the cash despite significant losses
Everton do have the room to spend money this summer despite significant losses over recent years, according to the Liverpool Echo.
As reported by the Echo [25 May] The Toffees are planning to change their recruitment policy this summer by focussing on younger players who provide more value.
However, it has also been reported by the Echo’s Joe Thomas that the Toffees won’t be afraid to spend if they feel it is needed.

Writing on Thursday [26 May], Thomas said: “Club officials believe they do have room to spend money if necessary and still comply with financial regulations despite significant losses over recent years.”
Spend sensibly
The Toffees have shown in recent years that they do not have the capability of spending money properly when it comes to transfers.
They should remain firmly committed to their plan of finding value in today’s market as opposed to spending large sums on wages and transfer fees.
Everton should be delving into the promising Championship market at present and Frank Lampard has previously had success working with second-tier talent.

Furthermore, we have seen recently the consequences of overspending and the damaging long-term effects that can have on a club.
If Everton had fallen into the Championship, they would be in a very similar position to Burnley, who have been tipped for financial turmoil after their relegation.
Lampard needs to undergo immense surgery on this Everton side to prevent this season’s failure from repeating itself again.
Finding value and sticking to their new strategy is the smart move for the Merseyside team.
