Everton to undo Marcel Brands plan as they aim to appoint loans manager

Everton are reportedly expected to appoint a loan manager after deciding against it when Marcelo Brands was at the club.

According to The Athletic, Kevin Thelwell may consider bringing one in and undoing the plan of his predecessor.

The job includes securing moves and monitoring loanees’ development and welfare throughout the course of their stint away from Goodison Park.

Good choice

Players out on loan often feel neglected like they’re not a part of the team or the long-term first-team picture but that’s not the case.

A loan manager can act as the liaison between the players and the clubs and maintain constant touch with them.

He can also be sent out to watch them in action on certain occasions and then report on what he’s seen to the manager and hierarchy.

We’re surprised that Brands did not think this was a position of importance and that could explain why so few players on loan ended up being promoted to the first team.

Under Thelwell, we are seeing some wholesale changes and long may this continue.

It’s going to be good for the club and its supporters who have not been overly happy these last few years and especially this season as well.
