Everton must not buy Newcastle flop Miguel Almiron after latest reports

Under no circumstance can Everton afford to sign Newcastle flop Miguel Almiron amid reports that they are interested in the forward.

Having avoided relegation from the Premier League by the skin of their teeth, the Blues are desperate for a major overhaul in the summer.

Several years of Farhad Moshiri brainlessly throwing money at the Toffees has led to some very questionable signings and obviously, they haven’t learnt following the latest reports.

Roberto Rojas said on Twitter: “Sources tell me that Miguel Almiron is highly praised by Eddie Howe & the Newcastle brass but would also like to play a huge part at the club next season.

“Everton, Fulham, Sevilla & Napoli are among the clubs interested in the Paraguay international should a transfer be needed.”

Stupid.

When are the Blues going to learn? You would have thought they had signed enough Premier League flops over the last few seasons to know better but obviously not.

In 30 league games, this season the Paraguay international has scored just one goal – that is dreadful.

Everton

He is a quick, skilful player who is said to have bags of potential but has barely shown it – at least consistently – since making his move to the Toon in 2019 from the MLS.

At 28, he doesn’t look to be getting much better and it would be a very silly move.

Lampard needs younger, hungrier players who will come in and fight tooth and nail every day as they try and prove themselves – not a washed-up player seemingly coming to the end of his career.

This window is huge for the former Chelsea boss because if he enters next season with the squad in the same – or even worse – state than it has been this season, the mood will very soon sour again at the club.
