Everton quartet departing this summer would be ‘no shock’ says journalist
Liverpool Echo journalist Matt Jones has suggested that four Everton midfielders could leave Goodison Park in this summer’s transfer window
Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Allan and Fabian Delph cost Everton a combined £77million.
However, with Frank Lampard due to undertake an overhaul at Goodison this summer, Jones has suggested that their futures are very much in doubt.

Writing for the Liverpool Echo on Friday [26 May], Jones said: “It would be no shock if all of the aforementioned quartet leave the club before the 2022/23 season gets underway.”

The figures that Everton paid for these midfielders highlight the issues Everton have had in recent years in terms of recruiting players.
Signing Gbamin for £25million and Gomes for £22million are just two examples of where the Toffees could’ve invested in a much smarter way.

This summer will see the Toffees try and revolutionise the way they recruit players.
Lampard will be looking for value as opposed to spending large transfer fees on underperforming high-earners.
The £25million they invested in Gbamin could’ve picked up three or four young players from the Championship who could’ve been developed.
Lampard will be looking to free up space and wages to give him the best chance of moulding the squad in his way.
The first thing the Everton boss should do is get rid of the misfiring players that currently reside in his squad.
