Everton should go all-out for Burnley winger Maxwell Cornet

Everton should be going all-out to bring Maxwell Cornet to Goodison Park after it was revealed the Ivorian has a relegation release clause.

The Telegraph revealed on Thursday [26 May] that the Toffees are chasing the Burnley man who is available for a cut-price £17.5million.

The winger has nine goals and two assists in 28 Premier League games for the Clarets and will be an excellent addition for any midtable top-flight club.

With Frank Lampard and the club hierarchy looking to revamp The Toffees recruitment policy, a move for the 25-year-old would be an excellent start.

The Ivorian is at an age where he is coming into the prime of his career and Lampard could take full advantage of the Lancashire club’s relegation.

With the Toffees looking for value in the market this summer, they don’t want to be overpaying on underperforming players on the decline.

The Toffees need to be looking at investing in players who could have a potential sell-on value if they perform well at Goodison Park.

Cornet has a variety of attributes that could benefit the Toffees.

He can beat a man out wide and deliver a decent cross but also drifts inside to find goalscoring positions in the box.

His goal against Newcastle on the final day was a result of his taking up a central position in the box and finishing clinically.

Cornet also has history against the Toffees, scoring the winner in Burnley’s 3-2 win over Lampard’s side.

The 25-year-old can also play a variety of positions, which could suit Lampard’s preferred three at the back formation.

If Lampard is looking for a versatile attacking option for a cut-price then he should look no further than Cornet.

The Everton boss will have to move quickly for the Ivorian with a host clubs after his signature.

It is time for his Goodison revolution to begin.
