Everton to pay £500k fee to Liverpool council over Bramley-Moore Stadium work
Everton have agreed to pay Liverpool Council £502,000 to cover a large portion of fees incurred during the construction of the Bramley-Moore Stadium.
According to the Liverpool Express, negotiations had been ongoing between 2016 and 2019 about the council supplying a financial package that would allow the Toffees to build their new home but no agreement was reached.
Everton, therefore, had to find their own way of financing the new stadium and did with Alisher Usmanov’s company but the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and Usmanov’s connections with Vladimir Putin, put a stop to that.

The club only need to pay £502,000 of the £841,000 the council have had to pay due to their exploration of using the ground for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The two entities came to the agreement on Friday (27 May) to give the full green light to the Toffees, who have seen the first super column be installed on-site [Liverpool Echo].
In the past
It might have taken a good six years to come to an agreement but that has finally been reached and both the club and the council can start to move on from their differences.
The new ground should open up plenty of opportunities for the football club both on and off the field of play that should be able to propel them towards being consistent top half challengers or even a European level team in the future.

Travelling teams may well be glad of the move too as they have still been forced to use an outdoor shipping container as their dressing room when playing at Goodison Park this season.
We are going to have to wait a fair while yet before we get to move into our new home and the importance of staying in the Premier League is enormous during that time to help fund the construction but once we leave Goodison and the past behind, we will go full steam ahead towards England’s elite.
