Everton fans will love Carlo Ancelotti’s comments ahead of major final
The 2021-22 season has finished for Everton but their former manager has one last job to do in Saturday’s (28 May) Champions League final.
Carlo Ancelotti left Goodison Park over the summer to take charge at the Santiago Bernabeu with Real Madrid and he’s already steered Los Blancos to the La Liga title at a canter and he wants to make it a double for the year at the Stade de France.
It will be familiar opponents for Real too as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool stand in their way of a famous season and the Italian manager has already started to add fuel to the fire.
The 62-year-old was put in front of the media on Friday (27 May) for his final pre-match press conference and he was quick to reference his time on Merseyside.
“I know that the Evertonians support us tomorrow for sure. I have good memories of my time spent on the blue side and I know they will support me,” Ancelotti said, as quoted by BBC reporter Phil McNulty via his personal Twitter account.
He might have only spent one season with us at Goodison but we’ve clearly had a big impact on him and had Madrid not come calling, he may well still be our manager and we probably wouldn’t have been in such a tough relegation fight this season.

Even if the opposition wasn’t that lot from across Stanley Park, we’d still be hoping he could lift that famous trophy in the French capital but the fact that he could crush the dream of Klopp and his troops at the same time makes it even better.
We can’t wait to see the Italian stallion with his hands on the trophy as those in red watch on with just a runners-up medal around their necks.
In other Everton news, a boyhood Toffees fan has penned an extension to his current contract with the club taking him to the summer of 2023.
