Everton have to do everything to keep Jordan Pickford after save of the season award
The importance of Jordan Pickford to Everton cannot be underestimated after a string of fine performances kept the Toffees in the Premier League.
Without his international experience and fiery attitude, we could be preparing to play Championship football right now but instead, we can look forward to another year of top-flight football and hopefully we won’t be in such danger this time around.
The 28-year-old has been recognised for his sensational ability by the Premier League as he’s been awarded the save of the season award on Saturday (28 May) [Premier League Twitter account].
Pickford’s simply outrageous double-stop against Chelsea at Goodison Park was the one they opted to go for but it could have been any number of vital saves that won him the award.
Frank Lampard will already know how much of his side’s success in the future will be down to the form of the England number one and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see teams come sniffing around to sign him after our disappointing campaign.
A proper approach for him seems to be far away and no obvious team have come forward either but should bids arrive, then the Toffees will need to use every trick in the book to keep him at Goodison Park.

Whether that be continually raising the asking price until sides back down or even flat out ignoring club representatives when they bring up the subject, there are things Everton can do to keep him on Merseyside.
It might not be in the spirit of football but when the game is becoming more and more alienised from its origins, the spirit can be fully thrown out of the window when it comes to transfer negotiations.
In other Everton news, Carlo Ancelotti has referenced fans on the blue side of Merseyside ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League final against that lot.
