Everton Women expert shares Supporters' Club Young Player of the Season pick Hanna Bennison

We’re delighted to welcome Peter MacFarlane, member of the Everton Women Official Supporters Club, as our exclusive Everton Women expert.

At the end of a long campaign Everton Women expert Peter MacFarlane has shared the Supporters’ Club choice for Young Player of the Season.

Swedish midfielder Hanna Bennison is the recipient of the award for a standout year amid plenty of turmoil, as she starts to repay the “substantial six-figure sum” the club splashed out on her last summer (Sky Sports).

At just 19 the full international, who The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland referred to as a “coup” upon signing, is already a crucial member of the first team, and having started strongly could still develop into an even better player.

Speaking to Goodison News MacFarlane shared the reasons for the choice, saying: “Hanna signed for Everton last summer as an 18-year-old for a club record fee, and a world record fee for a teenager.

“Hanna went on to feature in all 29 of Everton’s matches this season, the only player to do so.

“She has shown maturity beyond her years and has adapted to the league and her surroundings incredibly, giving strong performances throughout, and scoring a goal of the season contender for the Blues against Birmingham at Walton Hall Park.

“An unbelievably talented player who has the world at her feet and a worthy winner of our Young Player of The Season.

“We Think She’s One in a Million”

To perhaps no surprise the youngster also picked up the club’s official version of the same award after an outstanding debut season.

Chris Roberts said of the signing from Rosengard, via the club website: “From her great strike against Birmingham City, to her assist to Aurora Galli for the winner against Aston Villa, Hanna has stepped up when it has mattered.

“I’m confident Hanna will only continue to improve, and she has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in this league.”

In other Everton news, one Sky Sports pundit has hailed a mens Toffees star for their crucial contribution amid behind the scenes issues.
