Everton’s Nathan Patterson is out of Scotland’s World Cup playoff against Ukraine
Everton right-back Nathan Patterson is out of Scotland’s World Cup playoff against Ukraine, despite being given every chance to be fit for the fixture.
The 20-year-old defender has yet to feature for the Toffees due to injury but had been called up to the Scotland squad for their upcoming matches.
Despite earlier suggestions that the full-back could be fit for the Ukraine clash, Scotland boss Steve Clarke has confirmed that he will not feature.

As quoted by the Daily Record on Tuesday [31 May], Clarke said: “Everyone except Nathan.
“Nathan has run out of time a little bit for the first game.
“So Nathan won’t be involved in the first game but everyone else is good to go.”
Blow for Patterson
Patterson has already made an impact on the international stage for Scotland having featured eight times for Clarke’s side.
The young defender would’ve likely started for Scotland in the Ukraine fixture had he been fit.
Missing out on a match as crucial as their World Cup playoff is a blow for the defender.
Experiencing a match with that much riding on it would’ve been invaluable for Patterson and his development for both club and country.

Frank Lampard will be looking forward to introducing the youngster into his plans at Goodison Park next season.
Lampard has shown he has the ability to develop and work with young players in his previous roles and Derby County and Chelsea.
Patterson is in the perfect environment to develop under the stewardship of Lampard and become an excellent asset for the Toffees going forward.
If Scotland make it past Ukraine, the youngster will be desperate to feature in their potential World Cup playoff against Wales.
In other Everton news, a football finance expert has made a claim on the new Toffees stadium amid a major £300m development in the recent weeks.
