Everton are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing Manchester United talent James Garner in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The youngster impressed during his loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the 2021/22 season and helped the club achieve promotion.

The likes of Leeds United, Leicester City, and Southampton are also interested, possibly taking him on loan.

It will be crucial for Forest to keep hold of the players that played a big part last season.

Loan signings Keinan Davis, Djed Spence, Max Lowe, Philip Zinckernagel and Garner all played massive roles last season.

Garner spent loan spells in Championships at Watford and Nottingham, and he could be allowed to go out on loan again to a Premier League club. In such a scenario, Forest hold an advantage.

Patience is required here as newly appointed Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, could first assess whether the 21-year-old midfielder is ready to play for the first team.

Everton could be an interesting option for the youngster as well. Frank Lampard has built a reputation of working wonders with young talents, and the midfielder would get to learn a lot from the Chelsea legend.

He is a brilliant young player. Back in February, Trevor Sinclair compared the youngster with young David Beckham, saying he is a “phenomenal” talent [talkSPORT].

Bolstering the midfield is a priority for the Toffees this summer. It remains to be seen whether Lampard goes for established names or builds his team around young talents.
