Everton signing James Tarkowski will be bad news for Yerry Mina
Everton are leading the race to sign Burnley’s veteran defender James Tarkowski, according to The Times.
The Toffees are looking for defensive reinforcement after a horrendous season in the Premier League where they narrowly escaped relegation.
The 29-year-old is coming to an end of his career at Turf Moor as his current contract is set to expire on June 30.

He has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Newcastle United. Tarkowski made 219 appearances for Burnley across all competitions where he managed to score seven goals and provided five assists.

The Wall of Turf Moor
If we call Tarkowski “the wall of Turf Moor”, not many would disagree with that. The former Brentford man was one of the most crucial defenders during the time of Sean Dyche.
In his last five seasons at the Turf Moor, Tarkowski only missed 15 Premier League games which shows that he is not injury prone and someone who can be relied upon.
In the recently concluded season, the 29-year-old made 1.8 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game.
He enjoyed a Premier League rating of 7 or more across six Premier League seasons with Burnley. Even though he doesn’t have the best passing accuracy as a defender, he makes up for it with brilliant tackles and interceptions.
Adding Tarkowski could mark the end of Yerry Mina’s time at Everton. Ever since coming to the Toffees from Barcelona, the Colombia international has been in and out of the side, largely because of injuries.
The Colombian has been linked with an exit numerous times, and with a major rebuild expected at Goodison Park, he could be one of the first names sold this summer.
In other Everton news, Lampard and the club are determined to keep one of their star players and instead might sell others to fund incomings this summer.
