Sky Sports pundit backs Richarlison for Everton exit after nightmare season at club

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Richarlison likely wants to leave Everton because he is too good to be involved in a relegation scrap again believes Kevin Campbell.

The Brazilian is looking for a move according to Fabrizio Romano, who clarified the forward’s comments on international duty to confirm that he changed agents in April for that reason, and prefers to stay within the Premier League.

The Pigeon scored some crucial goals during the relegation battle and emerged as a true star in the eyes of the fans, after making a promise on his Instagram page to keep the side up that he ultimately kept, and Sky Sports pundit Campbell has given him his blessing to go after he did such an important job but isn’t sure the fans will see it the same way.

He spoke exclusively to Goodison News and said: “When you’re the star player I don’t think you can ever really go with the blessing [of the fans], but I think the fact of the matter is when the club needed him most he turned up.

“I think I said Richarlison was going to be the difference maker. Him and [Jordan] Pickford were outstanding.

“Maybe it’s a reset for the club.

“I get it. I do get it. He’s a Brazil international, he doesn’t want to be in a team struggling against relegation and all that.

“It’s probably put a sour taste in his mouth, what’s happened during the season.

“So he’s probably going to want to move on, possibly.

“But I’d love Everton to be able to keep him and strengthen, really strengthen.

“If it’s in his head that he wants to go he has my blessing that’s for sure, because I think he’s performed.

“He’s moody at times some people tell me but I love him.

“I think he’s been a real handful playing for Everton and he’s a good player.”

Everton

The bond that has developed between player and fans is strong, and it will no doubt be a wrench to see him leave.

But despite the all-round mess the club was in for the majority of the season the 25-year-old remained fully committed to the cause and, with a few notable accomplices, kept the team in the top flight.

He has arguably earned the right to move on, and with the finances at the club an ongoing issue the considerable fee he will no doubt bring in would help in that regard.

In other Everton news, one forgotten Toffee is in line for a second chance that will net the club £3.5million, but the potential for a £24million summer move remains.
