Sky Sports pundit excited by Everton pursuit of Burnley attacker Maxwel Cornet

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Everton signing Burnley attacker would be a “really good move” due to the price and his versatility according to Kevin Campbell.

With the Clarets relegated from the Premier League the Ivorian is now reportedly available for a release clause amount of £17.5million, and 90min have reported that the Toffees are one of a number of teams to have made contact with his representatives over a move.

Cornet can play as either a wing-back or an attacking wide man and Sky Sports pundit Campbell thinks that would make him a very attractive prospect for manager Frank Lampard.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “I think Cornet, he really showed himself at the end of the season to be a really good player.

“I’m not being funny but £17.5million is cheap money.

“He can play anywhere down the left hand side can’t he, and he can play striker.

“Having an interchangeable piece that can slot in, I think it would be a really good move because it’s cheap money.”

Burnley are currently going through the painful process that Toffees fans feared so much for their own team, having dropped out of the top flight and now seeing their best players lined up for exits.

Defender James Tarkowski was due to leave at the end of his contract either way and Lampard is believed to be pushing heavily to bring the 29-year-old to Goodison.

Considering he is free and Cornet is available for a knock-down price there is a decent chance that the club could pick up arguably the best two players from their beaten relegation rivals for incredible value.
