Everton ready to send Jarrad Branthwaite on loan amid Frank Lampard transfer decision
Everton are ready to loan out Jarrad Branthwaite this summer as they work on a deal for James Tarkowski, according to the Mail On Sunday.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on Sunday (5 June, page 150) that Frank Lampard believes 19-year-old Branthwaite needs more game-time.
Express journalist Ryan Taylor reported via his personal Twitter account on Saturday (4 June) that the Blues have submitted a “formal contract offer” to sign Tarkowski, 29, on a free transfer with his deal at Burnley due to expire at the end of this month.
Good decision
Branthwaite’s clearly a talented young player.
At the age of 19, he’s already played 13 times for Everton’s senior side and in the 2021/22 season, he managed to make six appearances in the Premier League.

He even scored in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 16 December.
Branthwaite’s performances weren’t amazing but he’s still young and he has to cope with the pressure of playing in a very poor side that was struggling at the wrong end of the table.
It wasn’t ideal for him to play as much as he did due to injuries and suspensions in the back-line and you could see in some of those displays that he might not be ready just yet.
However, we also saw enough from Branthwaite to suggest that he does have a future at Goodison Park and the club really shouldn’t give up on him.
Sending him out on loan to a top-end Championship club will do the youngster a world of good.
He’s been out on loan before, of course, playing for Blackburn in a half-season loan in 2020/21.
The ex-Carlisle defender only played 10 times in that loan spell so while it would have been a good thing for Branthwaite, it wasn’t the best of loans.
He needs a full season out in the Championship to ply his trade and return to Everton a better player than when he left.
Plus, Tarkowski’s potential arrival will push him down the pecking order and back into the Under-23s so this move benefits everyone.
In other Everton news, the Blues could be forced into a big sale as Alisher Usmanov’s name is mentioned in a transfer report.
