Everton striker Nathan Broadhead on radar of two League One clubs – report

Wigan Athletic are interested in making a move for young Everton forward Nathan Broadhead, according to Liverpool World.

After becoming League One champions, the Latics want to build on their successful season and make some notable additions to the squad ahead of the next campaign in the Championship.

As per the latest reports, Sunderland are also eyeing a move for the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window to keep him for longer after last season’s loan spell.

Sunderland are more likely to get a deal over the line for the Welsh international given their move last season, and Broadhead could fancy some continuity in his career.

Big call to make

Broadhead had a fantastic time on loan at Sunderland during the recently concluded campaign where he scored 13 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions [Transfermarkt].

Due to those amazing and consistent performances, the youngster received his first call-up to the Wales senior squad.

As Wales have now qualified for the World Cup, he would be looking forward to keeping up his good form and representing his national team in the mega-event which is set to be organised in Qatar later this year.

For Everton, the decision will be a tricky one if they receive a substantial offer for the 24-year-old. As things stand, they have two out and out strikers — Dominic Calvert Lewin and Richarlison — in their squad.

While the former had a tough outing during the last campaign because of fitness concerns, the latter has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.

Therefore, manager Frank Lampard will have to make a tough call on either letting a player go who can be a solution to Everton’s attacking problems in the future or keeping an inexperienced player who does not have any experience of playing in the top-flight football.
