Signing Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao will be smart business for Everton

Everton are interested in making a move for Italian club Udinese centre-back Rodrigo Becao, according to Tutto Udinese.

The central defender has two years left on his contract but has been linked with a move away from the club in the summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard looks to have made the strengthening of the defensive unit his priority ahead of the upcoming season as in the last campaign, the Toffees conceded 66 goals and were involved in an intense relegation battle.

Becao is another name added to the long list of defenders who have been followed by Everton as they were previously linked with Burnley’s James Tarkowski [iNews] as well.

Reliable Defender

Ever since moving to Udinese in 2019, Becao has been one of the best defenders in the Serie A.

In the recently concluded season, the Brazilian made 36 appearances across all competitions as Udinese finished 12th in Serie A.

Considering the fact that Yerry Mina has been injury-prone and Jarrad Braithwaite is still inexperienced, a reliable central defender in Becao would be exactly what the Everton fans would want.

As he has played more than 95% of the Serie A games last season according to Transfermarkt and had no injury issues even in the League, it is safe to say that the Salvador-born enforcer is fit and experienced as compared to the rest of the Toffee defenders.

Even though the Merseyside club are also linked with Tarkowski, Becao would be a much better signing because he is relatively young and comes from a league that has a history of producing great defenders.

In other Everton news, Salomon Rondon’s future on Merseyside may not extend beyond this summer as he opens up about having just 12 months left on his Toffees contract.
