The Gunners have been interested in the England international as per The Express on 20 May.

However, a move for the Everton man will now be unlikely with Newcastle United now looking the most likely destination for the 25-year-old.

As revealed by The Express [7 June], the Magpies are preparing a formal offer for the Everton man after giving up on Bayern Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby.

A move to the North East would be a good move for Calvert-Lewin after seeing his career somewhat stall at Goodison Park in recent years.

The striker has all the attributes to be a superb striker but has struggled for form and fitness in what has been a torrid campaign for him and Everton.

It would be easy to envisage the England international being a success at St James’ Park, should he make the move to Eddie Howe’s men.

Newcastle have needed an iconic goalscorer since Alan Shearer hung up his boots, with many trying and failing to replicate the Magpies’ legend’s status.

Calvert-Lewin has the attributes and character to be a hit at Newcastle and move could suit both parties.

Frank Lampard is looking to rebuild his Everton squad and receiving a huge fee for the striker could well aid him in his summer overhaul.
