Everton make enquiry for Hull City winger Keane Lewis-Potter

Everton have made an enquiry to Hull City about the signing of winger Keane Lewis-Potter this summer, according to the Daily Mail [June 8].

The Toffees are looking to bolster their squad this summer after just escaping relegation with a game to spare during the 2021/22 campaign, with Frank Lampard keen to mould the squad in his own image.

That means lowering the average age and replacing older players, which has led the club to take a look at Championship ace Lewis-Potter.

The Hull winger got 13 goals and three assists in 46 appearances for the club during the 2021/22 season and has attracted interest from West Ham United as well.

The club are said to have made an enquiry to Hull about what it would take for a deal to get one, but the club’s chairman has previously claimed publicly that “even if they offered £30m, I would not sell him.”

Ouch

The interest in Lewis-Potter is not a surprise, especially with news that Andros Townsend is likely to be missing until 2023 with his anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered earlier this year.

The club currently have Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray, Richarlison and Alex Iwobi as their wide options but with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future up in the air potential incomings are likely.

Everton have been struggling with cash since Alisher Usmanov was sanctioned for his ties to Russian government, and it’s believed that they don’t have a lot of money to spend during the summer window without sales.

That means sales are necessary to generate funds, and after being labelled as a “special talent” by former manager Grant McCann at the start of the 2020/21 season the Toffees must decide if Lewis-Potter is worth blowing a chunk of that budget on.

If Lampard deems that he is, then the club must do all they can to get it done.
