James Tarkowski set for Everton medical, deal all but done
Everton are set to complete the signing of James Tarkowski as early as this week after he accepted their contract offer, with a medical scheduled for today [June 8].
The Toffees moved early to secure the signing of 29-year-old Tarkowski, who will leave Burnley on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month.
Now 90min are reporting that the former Brentford man will be on Merseyside to undergo his medical before an announcement later this week if all goes to plan.

The report claims that Frank Lampard identified Tarkowski as his prime target to bolster the defence at Goodison Park, and the club therefore made him a far more lucrative offer than any other interested parties.
Tarkowski was seen as a back-up option to other parties and has therefore opted to make the move to Everton to continue his Premier League career after Burnley’s relegation in the 2021/22 campaign.

Great news. It’s about time the fans had something to celebrate off the pitch and getting an important bit of business done early in the window is exactly that thing.
While he isn’t the biggest name or most shiny signing, he ticks all the boxes that would’ve been wanted for a defensive signing and comes in at the peak of his powers.

He is good on the ball, good in the air, has a bit of pace and has the physical attributes to dig his heels in and defend as well as play a bit higher up the pitch if needed.
A free transfer, it helps the club keep their budget for other key areas and the wage is something that was always likely considering his status as a free agent.
Business is underway and Everton are in the mix nice and early, and fans couldn’t have wished for a better start to the window than securing their prime target before it even officially opens.
