Everton happy to let Yerry Mina leave the Goodison Park this summer

Yerry Mina “will leave” Everton this summer as the club are happy to cash in on the Columbian defender as he enters the final year of his deal, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Italian news outlet revealed on Wednesday [8 June], that the Toffees have “officially” put Mina up for sale with the club hoping for £13million for the defender.

However, it is believed that the Toffees may have to settle for a lower figure due to the defender coming to the end of his contract.

The Italian website wrote: “Yerry Mina will leave Everton, for the Toffees he is on the market.

“One year before the expiration of his contract, the Columbian defender is officially put on the market by the Merseyside club.”

They added: “They initially wanted £13million but without the possibility of a renewal the Toffees will have to settle for a lower figure.”

The 27-year-old Columbian has only featured 14 times in all competitions for Everton after an injury hit season.

Makes sense

A move for Mina makes sense considering the amount of time left on his current contract and the injury issues he has been plagued with this season.

If the Toffees can recoup around £10million for the Columbian then that would be good business.

The imminent arrival of James Tarkowski lessens the blow of potentially losing Mina, but ultimately his Goodison Park spell hasn’t been a huge success.

If the defender was to depart it would certainly give Frank Lampard more funds and wage space to restructure this failing Everton squad.

For too long the Toffees have relied on misfiring over-paid talent and it is crucial they don’t repeat the same mistakes this summer.

Early signs aren’t great with the imminent arrival of Tarkowski [The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano, 8 June].

Tarkowski is 29 and is entering the latter stages of his career and is very similar to the type of player the Toffees have recruited in the past.

Let’s hope the following signings aren’t of the same ilk.
