Everton offering James Tarkowski a four year deal shows nothing has changed at Goodison Park
Everton are set to secure the signing of James Tarkowski and are reportedly ready to offer him a four year deal – and if this is true then nothing has changed at Goodison Park.
As revealed by The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano on his personal Twitter account [8 June] the Toffees have agreed on personal terms with the 29-year-old.
It has also been reported by The Athletic on Wednesday [8 June] that Everton are set to offer the defender a four-year deal.

If news of the length of the deal is true then the Toffees have simply learned nothing from their previous transfer failings.
Tarkowski is a good defender there is no denying that but offering him a four-year contract at the age of 29 is lunacy.
He is in his prime or just beyond his best years at present so a two-year deal would’ve seemed logical.
The Toffees offering him a four-year deal is clearly the reason the defender has decided to move to Goodison Park and you cannot blame him.
He probably cannot believe that a club has actually offered him a huge contract as he goes into the final years of his career.

There is a good chance he will be a good player for the Toffees, but whether that goes beyond the next two years remains to be seen.
There is every chance the toffees will be left with a player who is happy to sit on the bench and run down the remaining time on his big contract in the years to come.
