Everton must accelerate Valentin Castellanos pursuit with price tag not met
Frank Lampard has a very busy summer ahead as he looks to make drastic and rapid improvements to the Everton squad at his disposal.
One of the areas he is most keen to improve is at striker where Dominic Calvert-Lewin spent most of the 2021-22 season out injured and struggled to find the same red-hot form once he returned.
Richarlison was an adequate stand-in but he is much preferred to play from the left-wing and so the former England international is likely to head to the transfer market for a new number nine.

One name which has been mentioned is that of New York City talisman Valentin Castellanos [Tutto Mercato] who won the MLS golden boot in 2021 as his side went on to win the league.
The Argentine attacker has been ultra prolific in the States but he wants to make his claim for a place at the 2022 Qatar World Cup and for that, he would need to ply his trade in a more competitive division.
As of Friday (10 June) though, New York City are yet to receive an offer that matches their asking price for the 23-year-old with Leeds United the most interested [90min].
West Ham and Newcastle look likely to offer competition to the Toffees too but Lampard has to jump ahead of the rest if he wants any chance of completing the signing of the Argentine.

The boss will be more than aware that Goodison Park might not be the most attractive place to come in the Premier League after struggling to survive in the 2021-22 campaign and the financial pressure that could quash his big overhaul this summer.
But if he can make first contact with the player and his agent then we stand every chance of making this happen and it would not be a move we regret if we can pull it off.
In other Everton news, Brazilian legend Rivaldo has weighed in on Richarlison’s ongoing transfer saga and wants him to leave Merseyside for a London switch.
