Alex Crook: Richarlison Everton departure to Tottenham not ‘advanced’

Tottenham’s move for Everton striker Richarlison is not “advanced” as of yet, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

As revealed by UOL Esporte journalist Bruno Andrade on Saturday (11 June), the 25-year-old Brazilian striker was believed to be “very close” to joining Antonio Conte’s side.

However, Crook has reported that Andrade’s revelations are slightly wide of the mark.

Talking on talkSPORT on Sunday 12 June, Crook said: “I don’t think it’s that advanced, I think Richarlison is on Tottenham’s list of potential arrivals but only at the right price.

“They’ve got Kane, Son and Kulusevski so it’s difficult to see where he fits in.”

He’s got a point

Richarlison’s move to Spurs is a strange transfer, to say the least.

Spurs have arguably the most deadly front three in the Premier League when they’re all fit and playing.

When Kane, Son and Kulusevski are all fit it is hard to see where the Brazilian fits into Conte’s plans.

A move to Arsenal makes a lot more sense for Richarlison.

With the Gunners in desperate need of a striker, he would be the main man for Mikel Arteta’s side and would play almost every game.

The Brazilian international is at an age where he simply has to be playing week in and week out if he wants to put himself amongst Europe’s best strikers.

There is a good chance that the Brazilian media may have sensationalized the move slightly, but even so, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Richarlison move on this summer.

Frank Lampard desperately needs to restructure his Everton side and a move away for the 25-year-old would certainly generate funds for the Everton boss to use.

In other Everton news, the Blues could be forced into a big sale as Usmanov’s name is mentioned in a transfer report.
