Everton: The three worst signings of the Farhad Moshiri era
Everton almost reached rock bottom in the 2021/22 season as they narrowly beat relegation to the Championship despite all the money spent in recent years.
Despite keeping their place in the top-flight football for another season, the Toffees had a season to forget and many believe that they should never have been in this position, especially after spending millions on acquiring players who never lived up to the expectations.
As per the Daily Mail, Everton have spent £500 million on players under the ownership of Farhad Moshiri and almost no one really delivered what was expected of him.
Numerous big-money signings have come and gone under the current owner and there are a scarce few that have delivered accordingly, which all helped to lead the club to where it found itself in May, staring down the possibility of the second tier.
Here Goodison News looks at three of the most unsuccessful signings Everton made during the reign of the 67-year-old.

James Rodriguez
James Rodriguez arrived from Real Madrid on a free transfer [BBC Sport] in the summer of 2020, and a lot was expected of him as he was the two-time Champions League winner.
Despite starting well under manager Carlo Ancelotti, he became injury-prone and once the Italian departed and joined Los Blancos, his relationship with the replacement Rafa Benitez remained fractured throughout and he eventually left the club.
Yannick Bolasie
Yannick Bolasie was considered an interesting prospect during his time with Crystal Palace. He joined Everton in a deal worth £25 million in the summer of 2016 [BBC Sport].
However, the DR Congo international never really get going, suffering a major injury in his first season that derailed his time on Merseyside, and eventually left the club permanently on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.
He represented the Toffees in 32 matches across all competitions, scored twice and provided four assists.
Cenk Tosun
Cenk Tosun was signed as a Romelu Lukaku replacement for £27 million in the summer of 2018 from Turkish club Besiktas [Sky Sports].
However, he failed to gain the confidence of different managers, all of whom preferred the likes of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
As a result, he had to consider loan transfers at Crystal Palace and Besiktas and neither came good for him.
