Three strikers Everton must consider if Richarlison joins Tottenham Hotspur

Everton are linked with a number of strikers this summer as Frank Lampard is looking to freshen things up for the next season.

Reports in The Athletic on Saturday [June 11] suggest that the Toffees could be set to lose their star striker Richarlison as Tottenham Hotspur keep watch with a move worth £51million mooted.

The development will be a concerning one for the Everton fans as the Brazil international was the side’s best-attacking player in the last campaign and played a huge role in helping the club in avoiding the drop.

We look at a few of the options the Liverpool-based club can look into if Richarlison does leave in the near future.

The Candidates

Armando Broja

Everton have been linked with a move for Chelsea’s young forward Armando Broja, according to GiveMeSport.

Despite not getting any minutes for his parent club Chelsea, Broja has made enough headlines during his loan moves at Vitesse and Southampton respectively.

During his loan move to the Netherlands, the Albania international scored 10 goals and provided two assists in 30 appearances [Whoscored].

Everton

He kept the momentum going during his time with the Saints where he scored six goals and provided an assist in 32 appearances [Transfermarkt].

Steven Bergwijn

Another name linked with a move to Everton is Spurs’ winger Steven Bergwijn, according to BBC Sport.

Bergwijn’s time at Spurs couldn’t have started any better as he scored on his debut against Manchester City. However, since then, he never really managed to cement his place in the starting XI at the North London-based club.

In his one and a half seasons at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he played at an average of 43 minutes in 83 appearances for the club, scoring eight times and providing 10 assists [Transfermarkt].

Valentin Castellanos

Everton have been also linked with New York City’s striker Valentin Castellanos, according to TuttoMercato. Last season, he was the top scorer in Major League Soccer with 19 goals.

In the 2022 season so far, he has scored seven goals and provided one assist in only 11 appearances for New York City FC [Transfermarkt].

Verdict

Out of all the options above, Everton must make a move for Broja because he is young, has experience of playing in the Premier League and is likely to stay at the club for a long time.

Could that be one to watch this summer?
