Hearts hope to negotiate loan deal for Everton striker Ellis Simms

Scottish club Hearts have made their desire clear to sign Everton striker Ellis Simms on loan this summer, according to Edinburgh Evening News.

The report suggests that Hearts have put a “strong pitch” to the Toffees in the hope of negotiating another loan deal for the exciting young striker.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a fantastic loan spell at Hearts last season, where he managed seven goals in 20 appearances in Scotland.

The report adds that the Toffees are unlikely to make a decision for him at the moment and that it could be decided in August, that is towards the end of the window.

A number of teams in the English Championship have registered their interest while Lampard will assess him during pre-season before making the final call.

Unlikely

This summer, Everton are likely to lose one of Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison.

Of the two, the Brazilian is most likely to leave. So, Lampard could think of keeping Simms as a back-up option as he needs more bodies in the squad.

Alternatively, Simms could only be sold if the Toffees sign one or two good strikers.

Lampard will take a hard look at him during the summer, and that is when he will make the decision whether the youngster is ready for Premier League action.

Ideally, a move to the Championship is perfect for his development. It’s not about getting games for him, but playing at a high level. If there’s any Premier League which want him on loan, that’s even better.

A return to Hearts should be the last option for Simms, even though it would help him gain his confidence.

At the moment, a move to Scotland looks highly unlikely.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have submitted a bid to seal a major summer signing and the player is already on his way to England.
