Richarlison supposedly could leave Everton for as little as £35million

Everton could reportedly lose star forward Richarlison for as little as £35million pounds during the summer window, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Brazilian is looking to leave the club after playing a key role in keeping them in the Premier League during the 2021/22 season, and Tottenham are currently at the head of the queue.

The report from Italy suggests Serie A champions AC Milan, and fellow giants Juventus, are ruled out of the race, which ties in with the preference reported by the Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano for Caught Offside, that the player wants to remain in England.

Calcio Mercato suggest a move could take place for around €40million (£34.7million), despite UOL Esporte’s Bruno Andrade reporting on Twitter (11 July) that Tottenham were in talks over a €60million move (£52million).

The Athletic’s David Ornstein subsequently said they would want even more than that, for the player they signed for an initial £35million, increasing to £50million with add-ons, four years ago [BBC Sport].

No chance

Considering his importance to the club in his time on Merseyside he is sure to have activated some if not all of the add-ons.

So if he were to leave for less than the Toffees paid Watford for him it would be an outrage to fans, and there seems to be next to no chance this happens.

The club need an injection of cash for Frank Lampard to do his own business in the transfer market, and a big-name sale is likely to bring that about.

The Pigeon looks like the one who will be sacrificed since he has made the most obvious play to leave, but unless it is for the right value then the club can’t countenance it.

Aside from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford there was nobody more important to the relegation fight than the 25-year-old Brazil international.

So the club can only let him go if somebody comes up with a suitable offer, and €40million is not that.

In other Everton news, one Sky Sports pundit thinks the reported negotiations that are currently ongoing will not end in a move.
