Everton have to maximise potential £52m Richarlison sale with Watford sell-on clause

After a less than acceptable season, Everton face the worrying possibility of losing some of their star players this summer transfer window.

One of those who could leave is 25-year-old Brazilian Richarlison with UOL Sports journalist Bruno Andrade suggesting that the Toffees are asking for a £52million fee from clubs interested in signing him.

Tottenham Hotspur are the club mentioned by Andrade to be keen on signing ‘The Pigeon’ (as he is often called by teammates) but a deal between the two clubs is not yet anywhere close to completion.

Everton may want to get more than that price though because they will have to pay 10% of any fee over £40million back to Watford as part of the deal between the two clubs when he joined the Merseyside club in 2018 [Watford Observer].

£52million would mean that at least £5million of that would go straight from the pockets of Spurs to Vicarage Road and Farhad Moshiri would not see any of it, making just a £7million profit after five years at the club.

For how good he has been for us since the moment he arrived at Finch Farm, such a pitifully small profit isn’t really good enough for us, especially as he is nearing his prime years rather than being a 30-something-year-old who is over the cliff edge in their career.

But on the other hand, Frank Lampard wants to make big changes to the current squad of Evertonians and to do that, he needs players to leave for big money and that might force our hand when it comes to the Brazilian.

In other Everton news, we are set to go back in to try and sign a midfielder who we were close to bringing to Goodison Park just 12 months ago.
