Everton must make rapid move for Dwight McNeil amid £15m valuation

Everton did not create nearly enough chances for the quality in their side last season and Frank Lampard needs to do something about it.

Luckily for Evertonians everywhere, the boss is already looking to the transfer market to add some crucial creativity to the Toffees’ attack and he could be in line for a bargain.

90min reported on 16 June that Everton were among six Premier League clubs who have enquired about 22-year-old winger Dwight McNeil who could be set to for a move this summer.

He didn’t hit the heights of previous seasons for Burnley in 2021-22 which helped lead to the Clarets getting relegated from the top-flight on the final day after defeat at home to Newcastle (one of the sides in the race).

The Lancashire club do have a release clause in McNeil’s contract but it is thought to be significant, according to Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

There is now renewed optimism for Evertonians that we could make the move to sign the Englishman as Lancs Live reports that the Clarets could well accept an offer of just £15million this summer after their relegation.

In this era of football, £15million is almost average for a summer signing and it isn’t something that should see us priced out of a move by any of the other clubs in the race.

Given how poorly our own season went last time around, we don’t have the same kind of pull that we used to so we need to try our hardest to get ahead in the transfer market by making approaches for players early.

The quicker we can make deals happen, the less time our rivals will have to retaliate and that will be to our advantage as the other sides scramble to deny us.

There is the possibility that they are able to stop us from time to time but the Premier League can’t stop every signing we try to make and eventually it will work.

In other Everton news, there is work going on behind the scenes to appoint a new role in the club’s academy but the deadline is only set for 1 July.
