Frank Lampard trust in youth could mean the end for Everton stalwart Seamus Coleman
Seamus Coleman has been a stalwart at Everton since 2010, however, Frank Lampard’s trust in youth could well see the Irish right-back gradually phased out of proceedings at Goodison Park.
Coleman is 33 and his current contract runs until the summer of 2023, and at present whether he will be offered a new deal remains to be seen.
However, looking at Lampard’s previous roles, it is clear that the Chelsea legend likes to give youth a chance whenever he can and that could well see 20-year-old Nathan Patterson given the nod as his first choice right-back for the 2022/23 season.

With Jonjoe Kenny departing Goodison Park it clears the way for Patterson to stamp his authority on the Toffees’ right back berth and sadly for Coleman his game time could be limited.
Lampard is likely to favour youth having previously given Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham an array of first-team chances at Stamford Bridge and Derby County.
Coleman seems like a character that would accept that he is coming to a stage in his career where his game time will be limited.
It would not be a surprise to see the Everton stalwart be gradually phased out of proceedings this season and then take up a coaching role at Goodison Park when he eventually does hang up his boots.

At 33 and with one year left on his current contract, Everton are extremely unlikely to receive any fee for Coleman.
With Lampard looking to overhaul his squad this summer, it would not be a surprise to see the Everton man potentially move on to free up wages for Lampard to use elsewhere.
