Chelsea leading race to sign Everton striker Richarlison – report

Chelsea are now leading the race to sign Everton star striker Richarlison this summer, according to The Independent.

The Brazil international is keen on moving on from Goodison Park in the ongoing transfer window with a host of clubs eager to acquire his services.

Apart from Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham have also expressed interest in landing the Everton man.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Toffees in the summer of 2018 from Watford, has only two years left on his current deal

Richarlison has been considered as one of the two most threatening Everton players alongside Dominic Calvert Lewin.

However, both had their fair share of problems in the 2021-22 season which was one of the primary reasons for the Liverpool-based club’s struggles as they narrowly escaped relegation on matchday 37 with a win over Crystal Palace.

Despite the struggles, Richarlison played a huge role in Everton’s survival in the English top flight as he scored 10 goals and provided five assists across 29 appearances. He played a role in 35% of the goals scored by Everton in the Premier League [Transfermarkt].

Despite his preference for playing on the left, the 25-year-old can also play on the right and create problems for the opposing fullbacks.

If Richarlison leaves Everton, the club will definitely lose one of their primary assets going forward and it will make manager Frank Lampard’s job extremely tough going into the next season.

In other Everton news, a Sky Sports journalist has said the Blues should complete their first signing by the end of this week.
