Simon Jordan: Everton need kicking up the jacksie if Anthony Gordon leaves the club
Simon Jordan believes serious questions will be asked of Everton if the Toffees allow Anthony Gordon to leave Goodison Park this summer.
As reported by The Daily Mail on 28 June, Everton are not interested in selling both Gordon and Richarlison to Tottenham this summer.
Jordan believes letting go of Gordon would be a damning indictment of the decision makers at Goodison Park.
Talking on talkSPORT White&Jordan on Tuesday 28 June, he said: “Selling Gordon is the exact antithesis of what you want to do with your academy players.
“Someone will turn round and say well there is more profitability in an academy player being sold because it’s less on our balance sheet.
“That’s not the way you should be running a business.”
He added: “They need kicking up the jacksie if that one happens but Richarlison will be the one that gets sold.”
He has to stay
Gordon simply has to stay at Goodison Park this summer.
If the 21-year-old departs Merseyside in the transfer window then it is a clear indication of where Everton are as a club at present.
Regardless of the potential profitability for Everton, Frank Lampard will surely be looking to build his side around the young attacker in the coming years.

Losing one of the club’s best young talents to Premier League rivals would be a kick in the teeth for all Evertonians.
There is no doubting the fact that Everton need to raise funds this summer with Richarlison looking the most likely candidate to depart the club at present.
After four goals and two assists in the 2021/22 season, Gordon’s stock is only going to rise in the coming years, even if he remains at Goodison Park.
If he was sold this summer there would be a completely justified backlash from the majority of Evertonians.
Lampard cannot afford to see the youngster leave the club this summer.
