Time for Everton to give new contract to Alex Iwobi
Everton are coming off the back of a difficult campaign where they narrowly escaped relegation, courtesy of the win over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
Now the Toffees’ management is keen to rebuild the squad in order to have a much better side this time around.
One of the players who had a fantastic end to the previous campaign was Alex Iwobi who was instrumental for the Liverpool-based club in a relegation battle.
The Nigeria international came to Goodison Park after a £34million move from Arsenal in 2019 when he signed a five-year contract with the club [BBC].
Time for some reward
Football isn’t just about 11 players on the pitch, it is a squad game. Your team can only be considered good enough to challenge for titles if it has a good enough spine.

If Lampard wants to bring the Toffees back into the top half of the table, he must include Iwobi as part of that spine. The Nigeria international is the kind of player that every Premier League squad would like to have.
In the recently concluded season, Iwobi played 28 Premier League games for Everton, scoring two goals and providing two assists [Transfermarkt].
Despite being known for playing as a winger and as an attacking midfielder since his Arsenal days, the 26-year-old’s fortunes have changed under Lampard.
He has started playing as a right-wing-back and we are seeing an improvement in his decision-making and end product. He seems to make more successful crosses and put himself on the byline more often.
Therefore, it is about time Everton must reward Iwobi with a new long-term contract which would keep the player at the club for a long time.
Iwobi was rejuvenated as the 2021-22 season went on, and now he should be rewarded for being that unsung hero.
