Everton join race to sign Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout

Everton have joined the race to sign Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout, according to a report from Calciomercato.

The Italian media outlet reported on their website on 21 June that the Toffees are likely to face competition from the likes of AC Milan and Marseille.

At the moment, nothing is official, with Roma demanding a fee of around £13m for the experienced midfielder.

The 29-year-old is a vastly experienced midfielder who has represented the France national team five times.

He previously experienced Premier League football, during his two-year stint with Aston Villa.

The former Nantes player was a part of that Villa side that got relegated, but he has resurrected his career at Roma.

In the past three seasons, he has managed over 130 games for the club and has scored 22 goals.

He is a typical central midfielder who can play as a defensive midfielder if needed. He is good at passing (88.4% accuracy last season in the Serie A, as per Whoscored) and has an eye for goals.

Roma are looking for a midfield overhaul this summer and Veretout could be allowed to leave. He has two years left on his deal at Roma, and is available at a decent price.

Fabian Delph is expected to leave Everton, while Allan and Andre Gomes are facing uncertain futures as well.
