Everton at 'very advanced' stage to sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks - agent

Everton are closing in on a deal to sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, according to FA-registered agent Paul O Keefe.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night (22 June), O Keefe reported that a deal worth between £20million and £25million would seal the deal for Everton to sign the 26-year-old.

O Keefe, who clearly has strong connections to Tottenham, added that a deal for the Blues to sign the 10-times England international is “very advanced”.

O Keefe works for Catalyst Sports Management Limited.

Getting closer

Winks isn’t a name that leaps off the page, let’s admit it.

He’s struggled for game-time at Tottenham for the last couple of seasons and ended the 2021/22 campaign with just nine Premier League starts to his name.

Antonio Conte clearly didn’t fancy the Hemel Hempstead-born midfielder and it makes sense for him to leave Tottenham this summer after spending his entire professional career in North London.

Everton are desperate for reinforcements.

We’ve seen a handful of players leave already but Frank Lampard is yet to sign anyone if you don’t include James Tarkowski, who’s widely expected to join once his contract at Burnley officially expires on 30 June.

Winks would be a welcome addition to the squad but we don’t really see him as a standout player who’ll help push the club in the right direction.

He’s had some good moments at Tottenham but can anyone seriously think of one game in the last few years where he’s been absolutely tremendous?

Our midfield isn’t in a good state so Winks will probably walk into the starting line-up.

He’s better than what we’ve got, which is a good thing but if this deal costs £25million, we’ll have every right to feel as though the club has been ripped off.
