Frank Lampard must use Chelsea links to bring Hakim Ziyech to Everton

Despite a difficult 2021-22 Premier League season, there are plenty of clubs keen on signing some of the attacking talent at Everton.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are the big two who have attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs but the Toffees are going to hold out for as long as they can before selling one of them.

But perhaps Frank Lampard is already starting to plan for life without the aforementioned duo from the 2022-23 season onwards with Dean Jones, via Give Me Sport, reporting that he may raid his former club Chelsea this summer.

The player mostly on Lampard’s mind is that of Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech after he failed to cement his place in Thomas Tuchel’s side at Stamford Bridge.

The 29-year-old only joined the Blues in the summer of 2020 after leaving Ajax for a fee of £40million but a switch to Goodison Park may depend on whether he is keen to stay in the Premier League or return to the continent for his next move.

It appears obvious that Tuchel doesn’t want him after he started just 37% of league games for Chelsea last season [Transfer Markt] and Everton could offer him a perfect place to rejuvenate the latter stage of his career.

He has always shown glimpses of brilliance and was particularly effective in the Dutch league for Ajax but his unpredictability has not helped him at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard needs to utilise all of his connections at Chelsea after his many years as a player in the capital and maybe even get ourselves a bargain deal if he is the man who is earmarked to replace Richarlison if he leaves.

Our current group of players are all a little bit safe and unwilling to take the big risks – with the possible exception of Anthony Gordon – so we need an enigma like Ziyech to relight our own fire as well as his own.
