Jarrad Branthwaite to leave Everton on loan as PSV Eindhoven battle English clubs

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite will leave Goodison Park on loan next season, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper shared in their print edition [June 25, pg. 110], that PSV Eindhoven are set to battle numerous English clubs to get a deal over the line.

Schalke in Germany are also interested alongside Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Sunderland as they all prepare for the Championship in the 2022-23 season.

Frank Lampard looks to have sanctioned this exit, with guaranteed weekly football only going to benefit the young enforcer as he continues his rise.

Branthwaite had some brilliant moments last season in his rare playing time, like the goal at Chelsea, but he also showed immaturity in occasions, such as his red card against Brentford.

Playing every single week again, as he did with Blackburn in his last loan spell will only help his development.

With James Tarkowski also arriving at the club at the start of July, this appears to be a no-brainer for all parties.

Smart.

Branthwaite has a big future at Goodison Park and the new stadium ahead of him.

Going to someone such as PSV over these English clubs could be very beneficial too, with European football potentially on offer rather than the Championship.

Of course, the second tier of English football gets you playing over 40 games a season, and especially the rough and tumble is something that can benefit him.

But, we want our defenders used to playing that silky football, and not being one-dimensional when they get the ball, simply looking long at any given opportunity.

Lampard wants his team to keep possession better, and Branthwaite going away to Holland and the Eredivisie would do himself no harm ahead of the 2023-24 season and beyond.

This is certainly one to watch across the next week and going into July with an exit likely wanted as soon as possible to integrate Branthwaite into his new squad away from Everton, wherever that may be.
