Everton ‘ideally’ need to sell Richarlison within intense mooted timeframe

Everton could be forced to sell Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur before 30 June to meet financial rules, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old is keen to leave Goodison Park with the Toffees remaining stubborn in wanting more than £50million to allow the Brazilian to exit the club.

Spurs are ready to use either Harry Winks or Lucas Moura – or both – as part of a deal but Everton are in need to sell players to ensure they comply with the financial fair play regulations.

The FFP deadline hits on 30 June and Everton would “ideally” have sold a couple of their current squad by that time to help bring their net expenditure down to a reasonable level.

As a result, Spurs are looking to take advantage of the time pressure and force the Toffees into a sale, 10% of which is owed to Watford due to a sell-on clause in his £50million move from Vicarage Road to Merseyside in 2018.

The club are delaying making any signings this summer until after the 30 June FFP deadline passes by to not make their situation any more precarious.

Inevitable

As much as we can dream that Richarlison will line up in the blue of Everton for our opening day game against Chelsea, we almost have to accept that he will no longer be our player by then.

Not only does this intense five-day window make our lives incredibly difficult, but it could also be the nudge Spurs need to low-ball us and get a bargain of a deal.

‘The Pigeon’ as he’s known deserves the move as well, in truth, having played so well for us in a tough year and without his goals, we could have been set for a season (at least) in the Championship.

We might miss out on a few million quid if we rush through a sale before July rolls around but it will still be worth it as to not get slapped with a big fine courtesy of FFP or even a transfer ban when we need to make some big changes to the squad.
